What To Do + See in Downtown Pittsburgh
If you’re lucky enough to find yourself with a bit of time to spare during a wedding weekend in Pittsburgh, you could definitely enjoy a leisurely meal at The Commoner or treat yourself to a bit of pampering, but we’ve got a few suggestions in case you want to venture a bit farther afield. Whether you only have a couple hours to hit the town between brunch and the ceremony, a leisurely half-day to kill until cocktail hour or you’ve added an extra 24 hours to your trip, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the City’s best offerings.
If you’ve got:
A Couple Hours
- Poke around Market Square, just an 8-minute walk from our front doors
- Take the Duquesne Incline and wander over to Grandview Park for killer views of Downtown
- Visit the perfect-for-Instagram public art exhibit/home of artist Randy Gilson dubbed Randyland
Half- Day
- Explore the shopping/dining/arts hotspots in the Strip District and while you’re there check out the Heinz History Center
- Hit up the North Shore, where you can pay homage to art luminary and Pittsburgh native Andy Warhol at the Warhol Museum, or if you’ve got little ones with you, discover the Children’s Museum, and then go for a nosh at Federal Galley food hall, a first-of-its-kind restaurant incubator
- Stop and smell the roses (and other flora) at the Phipps Conservatory and wander around Schenley Park
Full Day
- Make the ~90-minute drive to check out renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater
- Depending on the season, you may be able to catch a Pirates, Steelers, or Penguins game
- Taste your way through the city with a brewery tour
- Kids tagging along? Take the short drive to iconic amusement park Kennywood
